Improving your Gloss Finish

Let's talk about Farecla G3!

The easiest way to think of cutting compounds, is as high-grade wet and dry paper, but supplied in a paste format. You are probably familiar with other products like T-Cut, but  Farecla G3 is finer & a far superior option.

You can use G3 to gently smooth out imperfections & improve the gloss finish of cellulose paint and gloss lacquer. It can also be used to help restore old paintwork and cut back repairs and over application of lacquer.

The first step is to ensure that the surface has been wiped clean. Using Panel Wipe, a gentle but effective degreasant   Apply it with a soft cloth - mutton cloth is ideal.

Next, apply the G3 - you can apply it by hand in a circular motion, using mutton cloth  or with a machine polisher. Whichever method you use, ensure your cloth or polisher mop is damp, so that the paste is diluted slightly and the cutting effect softened.

Afterwards, buff the surface with a clean, dry piece of mutton cloth and inspect the area.

Not glossy enough? Add a little more G3 and buff again with firmer application.

Improving your surface with G3 is the gentlest method to try out first - however if you have heavy lacquer or paint application to cut back, you can increase your flatting power by moving up to wet and dry paper. Start at the gentle end - eg 2000 grade and move to 1500 and possibly 1200 if that's what it takes to cut back your excess. Buff with G3 and check the surface once more. You may need to apply an extra coat of lacquer (or cellulose paint if that's what you're working with) afterwards, in order to eliminate any visible scratch marks.

Please remember that the lacquer or cellulose surface MUST be fully cured before you attempt to polish or cut.
